A slowly spreading, evergreen groundcover for shade with exceptional yellow blooms. From mid to late spring, clusters of 1" wide, star-shaped, bright yellow flowers appear on straight stems just above the foliage. Newly emerging leaves are bronze-pink, turn dark green in summer, and then turn back to bronze in fall. Each leaf is outlined in white, giving them a sense of depth.
To keep epimedium looking its best, it should be sheltered from cold, dry winds. This species prefers more moisture than the others.

Epimedium is a tough plant that will survive in nearly any shady location. Though it prefers rich, moist, woodland soils with a neutral to slightly acidic pH, it will adapt to a wide range of conditions. This plant is a slow spreader, so mulching around the plants will help to keep the weeds away. Trimming off all of the old foliage in late winter will make room for a fresh flush of leaves and may increase flower production.
Epimedium can be divided in early fall and is rarely troubled by pests or diseases.
