This lovely new hybrid produces clusters of beautiful flowers you’ll want to view up close. The burgundy purple calyx opens to reveal ruffled, apricot flowers with a rose blush. They lighten to peach as they mature. The semi-double to single flowers measure up to 1½ inches across and are perched atop burgundy purple stems. In our trials in zone 5b, ‘Mai Tai’ began blooming in mid-May.
According to the breeder, this plant exhibits hybrid vigor and is more adaptable and longer lived than the older chiloense types.
Geum is a fast grower that is rarely bothered by pests or diseases.
