Lysimachia atropurpurea 'Beaujolais'

Lysimachia 'Beaujolais' Burgundy Gooseneck Loosestrife

Common Name: Burgundy Gooseneck Loosestrife

A low growing mound of silvery green foliage provides wonderful contrast for the arching spikes of burgundy-wine colored flowers. 'Beaujolais' has an impressively long bloom period, lasting from May to September. They also make nice cut flowers, so you'll have posies of blooms all summer long. Plant this perennial near a window to see the hummingbirds and butterflies it is sure to attract.

This species is NOT the same as Purple Loosestrife (Lythrum), which has proven to be an invasive species in wetlands. They do spread fairly quickly, however, when planted in moist soils, so choose their location wisely.
