Manfreda undulata 'Chocolate Chips'

Common Name: Perennial Deciduous Agave

This one of a kind succulent was selected by Carl of Yucca Do Nursery from a group of M. undulata spotted seedlings from Mexico.

It forms a low, broad spreading rosette of incredibly wavy-edged, glaucous dark green, cupped leaves with prominent deep eggplant purple to chocolate spots.  The leaves are not as rigid as an Agave, so they arch elegantly over the edges of decorative containers, and the tiny, light tan marginal spines are not sharp.

Though they are only about an inch wide, the strappy leaves can grow 20in or longer. They form a sprawling, wriggly mass that is absolutely unique!

Manfredas typically flower annually once they are mature and unlike Agaves, they do not die after they bloom.  The bloom spike can reach 4-8ft tall with interesting burgundy brown flowers.  Though this flowering performance is impressive, you’ll fall in love with this plant for its fabulous foliage.
