Rudbeckia fulgida var. fulgida

Common Name: Black-Eyed Susan, Coneflower

A selection which received high marks in the Plant Evaluation trials at Michigan State University. The foliage of this selection holds up well all season, retaining a healthy deep green color with virtually no insect problems.

The deep yellow flowers are not as large as R. 'Goldsturm'. However, after they finish blooming the petals are shed cleanly, leaving interesting dark cones with ruffles of green sepals.

This variety starts blooming later than R. 'Goldsturm' (around mid-August in Michigan), reaching its peak in September. A terrific complement to other fall blooming perennials as well as the fall color of trees and shrubs.
