Sesleria autumnalis

Sesleria autumnalis Autumn Moor Grass

Common Name: Autumn Moor Grass, Ornamental Grass

For most of the summer, this cool season grass produces a low mound of bright green leaves. Later in the season, it really puts on a show by sending long, tan seedheads above the foliage. This grass gets its species name "autumnalis" from the fact that it flowers in fall. Great for mass planting or edging. This tolerates light shade, which is uncommon for an ornamental grass.
