If you’ve always liked Stachys m. ‘Hummelo’ but would like to try it in a softer color, try the new ‘Pink Cotton Candy’. This plant looks much like ‘Hummelo’ but produces plump wands of cotton candy pink flowers in early to midsummer. May rebloom in fall.
In our trials, the plant formed a tidy clump of green, basal foliage and was topped with loads of showy flower spikes which the bees adored. The foliage looked great all season long.
This plant arose as an open-pollinated seedling found in 2003 among the betonies under evaluation by Richard Hawke of the Chicago Botanic Garden.
