Tiarella 'Iron Butterfly' PP12396 COPF

Common Name: Foamflower

The leaves of this selection are very broad and more deeply dissected than any of the others. They are glossy green with prominent black-purple centers. Typical of Tiarella, the coloration is more pronounced in cooler weather. During the fall and winter, the foliage takes on a purplish-bronze coloring.

This selection is a clump-former. From spring into early summer, lightly fragrant, white, star-like flowers appear on 12-16 inch tall spikes. They seem to capture the filtered sunlight, lighting up their shady surroundings.

Tiarellas are riding on a tidal wave of popularity thanks to their shade tolerance, unusual leaf shape, dramatically marked foliage, repeat flowering, and light fragrance.
